Formation characteristics of Shanhou mining area of Jiaodong peninsular were described. The important points of drilling construction in Shanhou mining area were discussed in borehole structure, drilling rod selection, bit improvement, pump pressure control and washing fluid preparation; the demand of wall protection & leakage stoppage and downhole accident prevention & treatment were presented to enhance precautionary consciousness and improve drilling efficiency.
